Welcome to the Concord Media web site.
Concord Media was founded back in 1959 by Lydia Vulliamy and Eric Walker, two Quakers, as the Nuclear Disarmament Newsreel Committee! It soon widened its scope to become Concord Film Council. We distributed on 16mm and provided films to promote discussion for instruction and training, not only in schools, colleges and universities but also in the health service and other social services.
We have probably the largest collection of programmes in the sectors of general and mental health, child care, race relations, war and peace, addictions, the third world, ecology, civil rights, personal relationships and social work training. We also hold very many films on the arts which we distribute on behalf of the Arts Council of England. We are a not-for-profit organisation and are registered as an educational charity with the Charity Commissioners.
This is our completely re-built web-site and we welcome your perusal of
it. Any suggestions for making it more customer-friendly will be
welcomed!
Please note that nearly all our titles can be bought in DVD format even though the descriptions at present only specify VHS. The prices for DVD are usually the same as VHS
Looking out for new titles. We are always seeking these if they come within our subject categories. If you produce, or know of anyone who produces these we would be grateful for information. With many of our producers we have had a mutually fruitful long lasting relationship, sometimes going back over 30 years!
SPECIAL OFFERS - From time to time we run special offers on individual programmes. Take a look at our 'Special Offers' section.
"Just an email to thank you for your very prompt delivery of 10 copies of SOME OF YOUR BITS AINT NICE. They were ordered yesterday and we received them this morning" - Louise, West Dunbartonshire Council
"Dear Eric and the team at Concord Media. I would like to thank you so much for finding, copying and delivering the film we were quite desperately looking for - and all at short notice. I was impressed by your immediate response and personal care and especially by your commitment to excellent customer service. You made the exhibition possible, thanks." - Shiri Shlmy, Gallery Space, Finsbury Park, London.
"Absolutely amazing service,. I ordered a programme by email this morning and it arrived 10 minutes later!" Keith G. Mercury Training (our efficiency sometimes even surprises ourselves! However we feel in this case there must have been an order placed at least the day before!) |
